When I was fourteen, I remember hearing about virtual reality tests that had been done in 1980’s Japan. I was super excited to be able to try out what this would be. I knew it wouldn’t exactly be a holodeck or anything but I still wanted it!

Lets jump forward about 16 years and we are finally in a year when VR is going to impact the market in a big way. With a plethora of VR units coming to the table, and quite a few games coming as well it will be both an amazing year and a confusing one.

At GamesCon last year, I had the privilege of testing the Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR and an array of mobile phone VRs. Both Rift and PSVR were amazing with great comfort and graphics. The mobile phone VRs were disappointing at best, a lot of screen tearing and just poor comfort. The only one that wasn’t tested was HTC Vive.

On the gaming front, we finally get the release of The Division, Final Fantasy XV (15), Horizon: Zero Dawn and many many more. The selection has never been better. And with the rumours of the Nintendo NX coming out soon, it is a good year to be a gamer!
